DESCRIPTION:

Join FCC at The Ark in Viroqua for the third annual Soup & Bread Awareness night for The Other Door. The Other Door is FCC’s Drop-In Center in Vernon County that works to provide positive social networking opportunities, particularly for people needing support in their recovery from severe mental illness or substance addiction. Homemade soup and bread will be served and musical acts will perform.

Musical acts include:
Paul Fairchild, Matt Shortridge, & Friends
R. Hogg
O’Cooch Mountain Band

There will also be a silent auction and a raffle with $5 chances to win a Dagger Zydeco 9.0 kayak.

The Other Door provides for those seeking nonjudgmental fellowship & support while recovering from addiction and mental health issues. Interested in learning more The Other Door? Click here

At The Other Door, voluntary educational, self-help, socialization or daily living programs are offered by Family & Children’s Center staff or specialists from other local organizations covering a range of topics including cooking, budgeting, meditation and accepting individual differences, etc. Friday community meals, movie or game nights, and holiday parties are hosted as well. The Other Door has a game room with a Wii system and boxed games and cards, a meditation room, an art room, a kitchen and a comfortable lounge with television and video.  There is also a foosball table, pool table, tread mill and exercise bike.  Meeting rooms for mental health recovery and 12-step groups are available. Groups find staff receptive to their needs for anonymity and privacy.

  • Alcoholics Anonymous
    • Sunday-Thursday at 7 p.m.; Saturday at Noon
  • Narcotics Anonymous
    • Friday at 7 p.m.
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness
    • Family member support group
      • First Monday of the month at 6 p.m.
    • Recovery Through Sharing group for persons who experience mental health issues
      • Monday at 6 p.m.

The Other Door is located at Family & Children’s Center in Viroqua.
