Come watch video footage of a group living and co-parenting in a tight-knit community and discuss those experiences.
We will share an unpublished documentary by Michel Scott (“the Horse Boy”) chronicling the 2012 Familyl Wilderness Guide Program. This wilderness immersion course brought 42 men, women, and children together to live a full turn of the seasons, primitively, in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
Both the families and the single people all set out in search of something missing from their lives, be it a sense of purpose and adventure, or to live a more integrated way than as nuclear families. Sleeping in wigwams, catching and gathering much of their food, starting fires with sticks, and learning to function, all day, every day, as a circle, these people got a taste of what it might have been like when, long ago, we lived in integrated communities that shared parenting and relied upon one another for everything.
Among the participants are two Viroqua residents who are currently stumped in their search for community. Come watch and explore. Masking appreciated.
